Finding the battery

According to the guide of manual, you may first find the placement of battery. Of course, the placement of battery is different according to different types of motorcycle. For example, usually it is under the fuel for Yamaha YZF-R6 and FZ6. But for Yamaha FJR1300, it is inside the upper right fairing. For Harley shovelhead, it hangs way off the right side of the motorcycle. Generally speaking, it is on the tail section or hidden between the primary pulleys or under the motorbike leather seat. Removing battery

Before you remove the battery, remember to disconnect the negative cable to ensure the safety. And then check the ends of the negative battery cable. Usually the negative and positive side are marked on the battery with “-“and “+”sign. You may find it easily and it can help you to avoid confusion when you install new motorbike battery on vehicle. And then you work on the negative end, but make sure that you try to decrease the possibility of grounding out the battery.

Next, you remove the positive cable. Usually this cable is red color, but not definitely. You may identify it by “+”mark. Now you may remove the hold-downs retaining the battery. Installing motorcycle battery

And check the positive and negative sides to make sure their correct direction when installing. Don’t make the terminals reverse and remember to examine it after installing new motorbike battery.

Some battery needs to be filled with acid. So, you should be careful to fill it to avoid the acid to be spilled on your motorbike. Next step is to hook up the cables. First of all, attach the positive cable before attaching the negative one. This installation is the reverse of removing battery, so please pay more attention to the order. Otherwise, it will cause hazards, such as motorcycle electrical components will be fired, or fuses will be popped. After you finish all, the last step is to test it.
