Do you know installing LED turn signals can make your motorcycle unique and awesome? You may firstly go to motorcycle light shops to select the motorcycle LED lights, and then design them by yourself before installing at home. Now let us get to know how to install them on a motorcycle.
Preparing for installation
Firstly, you should gather all you will need during installation such as LED light kit, electrical wire with two different colors for using positive and negative battery connections, Velcro strips, sandpaper, tools including screwdrivers, pliers and soldering equipment, electrical tape, an in-line fuse and wire terminal connectors and so on.
Secondly, remember to test LED lights you bought before installing, and see if they do work. Usually the way is to connect the positive lead wire and negative lead wire separately to the positive terminal and negative terminal on a battery. If the motorcycle LED strips light, it shows that they can work well.
Then you test motorcycle LED strips location. Of course, if the LED kit have instructions about how to mount lights, it is good. If not, you need to use tape to attach them on motorcycle to test the location.
Lastly, you need to pick a location on the back of LED kit where you will mount the switch later. Usually there are three leads on the back of LED kit, which are positive, negative and ground.
How to attach the LED lights on a motorcycle?
First of all, you attach Velcro to the LED stripes, and then attach them to the motorcycle after you confirm the correct location. If you want to design your own, you may use thin Velcro strips which can let you move them at will, at the same time, they have plenty of adhesion. Of course, if you don’t want to move the motorbike turn signals, you may use some strong double sided tape to adhere the motorbike Led stripes according to your design. Here reminder you once you use this design, you cannot peel it back off, otherwise, it will hurt hardly the paint on the motorcycle. You should consider well before you do it. When you put the strips on correct position, you may fix them with Velcro, but remember that the direction of wire needs point toward the battery of motorcycle. At the same time, the unconnected wiring also needs point toward the battery.
And then, you may connect LED turn signals with the motorcycle electrical components to make sure it lights. Firstly, you may attach the switch to the positive terminal of battery, and solder a ring terminal to one end of the sire. Secondly, connect ground wire and the positive LED strip wires to the switch. When you connect ground wire, you need an additional wire to connect one end to the switch and solder another end with a ring terminal. Of course, the positive wire from each LED strips need point toward the placement you put switch When connect the positive LED strip wires to the switch. And remember to tight wires to the frame or fix them when you need. After you finish all these steps, motorbike LED lights can work normally.
