For riders, motorcycle transmission chain is one of the parts that are easy to be broken. In this article, we will introduce the methods to change a motorcycle chain and sprockets as below, hope it is helpful for riders.
Step 1, Remove the old chain ( If only the chain is replaced, please skip directly to step 6).
The first step is to remove old motorcycle chain. For cars with small displacements, the motorcycle chain joint may be a quick release joint with a C-shaped buckle, but some use a rivet joint, so it needs to be removed by chain device. The old chain is removed. If you just want to change the chain, you can install the new chain from here, but if you want to change the new motorcycle sprocket by the way, take the old chain off and set it aside, and then proceed with the following steps.
Step 2, Remove the rear wheel and replace sprocket
Since motorcycle rear wheel axle core usually has a relatively large fixing force, it is a good idea to loosen a little when the rear wheel touches the ground, and then loosen the parking frame. Since sprocket is fixed to the hub by nuts and screws, so it can be removed by screws. After the motorcycle rear sprocket is correctly installed, proceed in the reverse order of disassembling motorcycle hub.
Step 3, Replace the front sprocket and install wheels
Usually the motorcycle front sprocket has a protective cover, so remove this cover first. When you remove the cover, you will find that it is very dirty inside. The front sprocket is blocked by dirt, such as dirt attached to the chain.
There are many ways to fix the front sprocket such as fixing the center with a nut or fixing with a C-shaped buckle, and fixing a special clamp on the sprocket with two screws. Here we take C-shaped buckle type as instance. The front sprocket can be removed after removing the C-shaped buckle with needle-nose pliers. After removing the front sprocket, use detergent and a brush to remove the dirt accumulated here.
After cleaning, install front sprocket. And then use a torque wrench to fix the screws to the required torque value. Here reminder that the C-shaped buckle has two sides. The shiny side is the front and the matte side is the back. Please insert the C-shaped buckle into the correct groove according to the shiny side facing outward.
Step 6, Install the new chain
It's finally time to install new motorcycle chain. If you only replace the chain, you can connect the end of the new chain to the end of the old chain and pull it, and connect the new chain to the front sprocket with the old chain. If the chain has been removed, please hang the front sprocket on one side of the chain, and hang the rear sprocket on the other side after the chain, so that the subsequent steps of installing the chain can be more convenient.
