If you want your motorcycle to have good performance running on the road, you have to regularly maintain motorcycle charging battery except for maintenance of motorcycle parts. How to maintain motorcycle battery properly? Today, we will talk about it. If you are interesting, you may read as follows.
Inspection battery regularly
It is necessary to inspect battery regularly. Here it is suggested that you inspect your motorcycle lithium battery at least once per month no matter how busy you are.
Clean the terminals
Remember to often clean the terminals since it can prevent corrosion and dirty things accumulated, such as mud or sand sediments and dust etc., and it can effectively avoid any problems happened when your bike running on the road. If motorcycle battery terminal is dirty and corroded or oxidized, it can be cleaned with a wire brush. If it is not clean, you can drop a little electrolyte to corrode the surface and wipe it dry with clean water.
Check and supplement of battery liquid level
The liquid level of the motorcycle battery must be between the upper and lower limits, and it must not be lower than the minimum limit. If it is lower than the minimum limit, it should be replenished in time. When refilling, do not inject dilute sulfuric acid, otherwise the battery will be damaged due to excessive electrolyte concentration. Not to add tap water, river water, etc. because it contains calcium, magnesium plasma and has impurities and these substances will be adsorbed on the surface of the plate. So, it is necessary to add pure water or distilled water.
Motorcycle battery liquid level should be checked regularly. Generally, it should be checked and refilled once a month. It should be noted that there is no need to check and replenish the liquid level of motorcycle sealed maintenance-free battery, and never open the sealing cover.
Check before battery charging
Check whether motorcycle battery voltage is lower than the standard value. If possible, check whether the specific gravity of the electrolyte is lower than 1.28 (20℃). To observe the inside of the battery, if one or several battery cells are corroded, the electrode plate becomes white, or there is material accumulation at the bottom, or the electrode plate is warped, the battery should be replaced.
Charging the battery
This is an important part of motorcycle battery maintenance, which directly affects motorcycle battery life. When charging, the current should not be too large, and fast charging is not recommended. And please use half of the rated charging current and double the rated charging time. Firstly, put the battery in cold water to cool down and the water is submerged to 4/5 of the battery. Because the battery emits a lot of heat when it is being charged, if it is not dissipated as much as possible, the plate will bend and deform, which may damage the battery. Remember that motorcycle unsealed batteries should open the plug, and in a well-ventilated place away from fire to prevent accidents happened due to hydrogen generated when charging.
