The oil and oil filter on motorcycles must be replaced after a certain period of time. If the oil filter has not been replaced for a long time, there is no need to lubricate the cylinder head and some special parts. Because the motorcycle oil filter will accelerate the wear and tear of the engine through the dirty oil. Therefore, we regularly replace the oil filter according to the actual situation.
If you change a large displacement model each time, the oil filter should be replaced, and if it is a small displacement model, the oil should be replaced twice. The oil filter element must be replaced to ensure the basic lubrication requirements of the engine. But the premise is that the selected accessories must be reliable, otherwise the filtering effect will not damage the oil pump.
Generally speaking, the oil change interval of a motorcycle is closely related to the frequency of use of the motorcycle and the quality of the oil. The first time the oil is changed for a new motorcycle that you just bought is when the driving distance reaches 300-500 kilometers. In addition, it is best to clean the oil filter first, and then change the oil. There are a lot of worn-out iron filings when the new motorcycle runs 300-500km.
Then the second oil change is when your car reaches 1000km. The oil change is very simple at this time, there is no need to wash the oil filter as before. The third oil change is the driving distance of 1000-200km. According to the instructions of the locomotive, the oil of the motorcycle needs to be changed at least twice a year.
You should prepare some appliances in advance to avoid the embarrassing situation that occurs when the oil flows out of the motorcycle fuel tank and your hands are too slippery to turn the fuel tank cap. Such appliances include triple clamp fork, expansion bracket holder stand, motorcycle gas tank service cover.
Place bicycles or motorcycles on various supports. Place the drain pan approximately under the bolts. Observe where the oil comes out. Remove the bolts with a tool. Be careful not to get burned.
When the filter is removed, the dirty oil is completely drained. Then you can use a filter wrench to unscrew the filter, or wrap a leather or rubber band around it to remove it. At this time, be careful not to dent or damage the filter causing some contaminants in the filter to return to the engine. If it is too tight, use a hammer to tap a screwdriver on its side to loosen it.
Remove the old compression washer and install a new drain plug compression washer. The new valve cover gasket can easily match the threads in the oil pan.
Before putting the drain bolt back in place, make sure it is free of dust and dirt. Do not over-tighten the cast aluminum drain bolt with a torque wrench.
The next step is to inject about a quarter of the fresh oil to prepare the filter. The filter materials are all wetted with oil. Apply a small amount of oil to your fingers to soak the rubber seal to ensure good contact with the engine, which will help it be easier to remove during the next oil change.
Remove dirt from the filter area on the engine. It is best not to add oil too slowly, because excessive oil will increase the pressure of the engine seal and shorten its service life. We should also pay attention to clean the area and objects around the fuel tank, including fuel tank petcock valve, gas tank shut off valve, motorcycle tank cover and tank side cover.
Then you have to carefully check that all the covers and bolts are back to their original positions. Before riding, it is necessary to check the liquid level and the tightness of the filter, drain bolt and filler cap again.
