Inspection and Maintenance of Motorcycles

Every brand new motorcycle is the owner's favorite, so timely inspection and maintenance is the best care. Today we will talk about the inspection and maintenance of Motorcycle.

Inspection before driving: Before the motorcycle is running, it is necessary to do the inspection work. First, watch the fuel gauge or open the fuel tank cap to observe the fuel storage in the fuel tank and whether the entire fuel system is leaking.

Check the oil: unscrew the oil dipstick, check whether the oil is between the upper and lower engraved lines, or observe the oil see-through hole on the lower right side.  If the oil storage is below the lower limit, you must replenish the oil before starting the engine. Otherwise, it will cause serious engine failure.

Inspection and adjustment of front and rear brakes: check whether the free stroke of front and rear brakes is within the specified range and whether the motorcycle brakes are effective.

Inspection the free stroke of motorcycle clutch grip: check whether the free stroke of the clutch grip is within the specified range (10-20mm) mm.

Inspection of transmission chain: check whether the tightness of the transmission chain is within (20-30mm) mm and whether the motorcycle chain links are loose.

Inspection motorcycle front and rear wheels: shake them left and right and see whether the front and rear wheels are swinging, whether the pressure of the front tires is normal, and check whether the wheels rotate smoothly, whether there is any abnormal smell, vibration, abnormal sound, etc. during the operation of the engine.

Examination of peculiar smell: Check whether there is an abnormal smell in the following parts of the motorcycle. If the motorcycle has a serious abnormal smell, you should turn off the ignition switch and inspect immediately.

Inspection of the stroke of motorcycle front brake grip: Check whether the free stroke of the end of front brake grip is between (10-20) mm, otherwise it should be adjusted.

Inspection of motorcycle brake wear indicator: when you brake, if the arrow is directed at the mark, it means that the brake shoe has been severely worn and should be replaced in time.

Adjustment of motorcycle clutch free stroke: The free stroke gap at the end of the clutch grip should be 10-20 mm, otherwise it should be adjusted. Loosen the lock nut and turn it counterclockwise to reduce the free stroke. When the specified clearance is reached, lock the nut. If the lock nut can be loosened during fine adjustment, the free stroke increases when turning clockwise, and the free stroke decreases when turning counterclockwise. When the specified value is reached, turn the lock nut counterclockwise.

Adjustment of the motorcycle drive chain: Check whether the tightness of the chain is between 20-25 mm, otherwise the chain should be adjusted. When adjusting the chain, first loosen the rear axle nut, loosen the chain adjuster lock nut, and turn the adjustment screw clockwise.

Inspection of motorcycle front shock absorber: Hold the handlebar firmly and compress the shock absorber downwards. Observe if there is oil leakage.
