How to Disassemble the Motorcycle Ignition Switch?

Disassembling a motorcycle ignition switch in a store can be expensive. In fact, you can do this in the garage yourself. Motorcycles are often the main stolen items of thieves. Motorcycle ignition switches are often damaged during this process. The ignition switch needs to be replaced if it is severely damaged. With the right tool, you can easily remove the keyless motorcycle ignition switch. In order to protect personal property, many people will equip motorcycles with motorcycle wheel lock, motorcycle disk lock and motorcycle clutch lock.

The Working Principle of Motorcycle Igniter

Motorcycle igniter is an auxiliary device to start motorcycle engine, and its appearance is mostly black square. The common ignition start mode is divided into two types: hand ignition start mode and foot pedal start mode. The latter is also called pedal start motorcycle. In terms of operation, the hand-press ignition starting method is more convenient and quicker than the traditional foot pedal starting method.

The working principle of the motorcycle igniter is that the igniter and the sensor work together to determine the spark-over moment of the spark plug. When the high-voltage package amplifies the voltage and supplies the spark plug to ignite, the spark will cause an explosion when the fuel and air mixture is ignited, pushing the piston up and down in the cylinder body to start the motorcycle engine.

Steps to Remove the Ignition Switch of a Motorcycle

1. Place the motorcycle

Park the motorcycle on a flat surface. If it is indoors, make sure that there is sufficient lighting nearby. Keep the required tools nearby.

2. Disconnect the battery

Before further removing the ignition switch, disconnect the lithium motorcycle battery. Remove the motorcycle saddle seat and set it aside. The ignition area of the motorcycle can be clearly seen under the seat. Remove the negative terminal wire before the positive terminal wire. On the contrary, it may burn out or short-circuit the battery.

3. Loosen the clamping bolts

The tool used to loosen the clamp bolt is mainly the triple clamp fork.

4. Remove the steering damper

The next step is to remove the motorcycle steering damper. This premise is that the motorcycle has a steering damper. The bolt that fixes it on the upper trigeminal tree fixes the other end of the steering damper to the frame.

5. Remove the trinomial tree

Remove the 32 mm nut and washer securing the upper trigeminal tree to the steering rod. Then remove it.

Finally, connect the original wiring. Separate the ignition device from its wiring harness to disconnect the connector.

6. Remove the ignition switch

Place the ignition switch facing down and find the two bolts that fasten it to the bottom of the trigeminal tree. The ignition switch can be fixed with disposable bolts or hexagonal head bolts. Remove it with a bolt removal tool. Remove the ignition switch from the upper triple clamp. The last step is to replace the ignition switch with a new one, and reinstall the equipment in the reverse order.
